In OKINWA

KUDAKA ISLAND

Kudaka island is a small island  (perimeter of 8km) locatend in the south part of mainland Okinawa.
It is called ,"The island of God." and is considered a scared island. Sanctuary is scattered through the island.

Rode made of white sand runs
through between tropical trees
and leads to the beach.
On the way you will be able
to see black-butterflies,
fluttering as though it is
guiding the way.
It is said that goddess of Ryukyu
appeared right down by the sea.

There is a special hole in the rock
on the edge of the surf.
It called, " Reborn hole."
It is said that if you go through

Mitaka is proud of the world famous museum.

Mitaka city proudly announces that many thousands of people from all over the world visit Ghibli Museum, each year, in which they would touch Miyazaki Hayao’s anime world. It is located at Inokashira Park which is one of the famous cherry blossom viewing spots in Tokyo area around the end of March. The blooming time varies slightly year to year.

The shuttle buses are available every ten minutes from Mitaka station, the nearest one on the JR Chuo Line. If you would prefer walking, it takes only 15 minutes from Mitaka station. The safe path along "Kaze no Sampomichi" leads you to the museum providing opportunities for you to see historic sites of a few  Japanese famous writers.

Paper Lantern

I had a fun experience to make a paper lantern at a lantern shop in Okusawa the other day . First I made a heart-shaped frame with copper wire and some smaller heart-shaped frames to place inside the main heart-shaped frame.
Then these frames were soldered to build one complete heart-shaped lantern frame. Next, put Japanese paper over the frame. Finally attach the frame to a tap with a small light bulb behind the lantern. When turned on the light it looks tender and calm. The photo with this article makes you understand what it looks like.   By Betty(^_^)/

Setsubun

The Bean-throwing Ceremony

Today is February 3, 'Setsubun,' which comes just before spring season begins in Japan. We  celebrate Setsubun with throwing roasted soy beans calling in fortune and chasing off devils (bad luck). We say " Oni wa soto. Fuku wa uchi."

And it's been also said you should eat the beans as many as your age with another one plused so that you would live longer.
